Course Description

This International A Level English Language Distance Learning is ideal for anyone wishing to gain a knowledge and understanding of this subject or for anyone who wishes to study at a higher level at University. You will also find this course extremely valuable if you are looking for a progression route for further training whilst employed.

The new specification will encourage students to develop expertise in this subject by exploring key language concepts whilst connecting with a range of texts and discourses. You will be encouraged to pursue lines of enquiry, analyse texts and debate different views.

International A Level English Language CIE exams can be taken in June & November (Also March for India)

The course will be delivered online including Tutor Support for two years. Candidates for the Cambridge International AS Level English Language study the following topics:-

comment on aspects of a text, such as vocabulary, gurative language (e.g. use of metaphor and simile), word ordering and sentence structure, formality/informality of tone, and the communication of attitudes, bias or prejudice, structure

write for a specific purpose and/or audience using appropriate vocabulary, tone, and style.

 

Writing

 

show that you can write imaginatively, using language to create deliberate effects, e.g. in conveying a mood or describing a character.

show that you can present a view clearly, construct an argument carefully, and write coherently and persuasively.

 

AS level consists of two examinations each totalling 50% of the overall AS Level grade.

 

Full A’ Level

 

Candidates for the Cambridge International A’ Level English Language study the following topics:-

A’ Level assessment consists of four examinations which each total 25% of the overall A’ Level grade.

Will I require any previous knowledge to start this course?

You do not need any prior learning knowledge or experience to take this course. This course is openly available to anyone who wishes to take part in a highly rewarding home study course, although you would be expected to have a reasonable standard of literacy. You have the freedom to start the course at any time and continue your studies at your own pace for a period of up to 2 years from initial registration with the full support of your Tutor.
